Seattle-raised singer-songwriter Mary Lambert is mostly famous for featuring on Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ chart-topping and Grammy nominated song "Same Love" and is stepping out on her own as she premieres the official lyric video for her newest single online "Secrets" which serves as the lead single lifted from her upcoming debut album "Heart On My Sleeve" due out on 14th October via Capitol Records.
"Secrets" is a heartfelt and empowering offering from the 25 year old which finds her encouraging listeners to reclaim their power by letting go of the negative messages that society puts on them that they are not good enough because they don`t fit the mold nor meet their narrow minded states of what is beautiful: “‘Secrets’ might be the first fun song I’ve ever written,”“We’re all facing battles. We’ve all had someone who has hurt us. So let’s talk about it. I believe vulnerability is what will save the world. I wanted to point the lens at myself in hopes of inspiring others to do the same. In short, this song is my dirty laundry, and that’s actually really freeing” Lambert says of the track.
"Secrets" is a perfect single choice, as it`s very catchy and it`s features a message that world needs to hear more than ever, that we all have our secrets and keeping them locked away in a place of shame is far more damaging than letting them out. We need to start accepting our secrets/truth and feel no need to be validated by anyone but ourselves.
