After debuting her new song live at the March Madness Music Festival in Indianapolis on Saturday Night, the Bajan songstress has premiered the studio version of the song called "American Oxygen" which is said to be lifted from her forthcoming still-untitled eighth album, which serves as the follow-up to 2012’s Unapologetic, is due out later this year.
The Alex Da Kid produced number is a very inspiring anthemic ballad that finds RiRi tackling patriotic subject matter: "Breathe out, breathe in . This American oxygen, every breath I breathe. Chasing this American dream, respect for a nickel and dime, turn it into an empire."
While I think this song needed more drum work to give it more life, she made it work and also showcased a different side to her as you would expect to hear records like this from the likes of Faith Hill, Carrie Underwood and Blake Shelton. Robyn is growing and winning me over with everything she releasing this era.
Take a listen to the new record below.
