Natasha Mosley came on on our radar when she made her appearance on Jeremih’s 2012 mixtape "Late Nights" on the raunchy track “Fuck U All The Time", now the 24 year old songstress has released her long awaited album titled "Rose Hall" which has a dual meaning. It’s in part an ode to the namesake of her maternal and paternal grandmothers, as well as symbolic to that of a blossoming rose.
The album features 17 tracks that feature production work from the likes of Atlanta’s FKi and Grammy winning producers Zaytoven and KE.
Read my review after the jump and also stream the album.
She opens the album with "Over" which is a drum-piano number that finds her singing emotionally about trying to reconnect with lost love "I know that I did you wrong, but I don't want it to be over," throughout the song she displays some solid vocals.
She follows it up with "I Want You" is a sensual mid-tempo number which features a thunderous beat and finger snaps, it finds her calling up her man to come over and give her some good loving: "Baby you know that I need ya, give me what I need don`t be stringy. You know it`s right, kissing me slowly, grab on my body..."
"Love Me Later" opened up with guitar production before the bass kicked it, it`s a heartfelt ballad number that sees her singing so beautifully about being deeply in love with a guy who has yet to know what real love even if it`s front of him, he is busy wasting his time chasing shallow type of love. Hopefully in due time he will grow and realise that she has the realest love; "It has always been you, nobody else can ever fit your shoes, you`ll always the one I hold on to. I guess it`s not the time for me and you, until you move them hoes out the way, let them know their place..."
"Anthing" is laid back, bass-laden track that finds her displaying so much confidence and sensuality as she sings “Anything she can do I can do it too, wait till we get home, boy I'm gon' show you. Remember that thing she did on stage? Times that by two, boy don't be afraid. I twerk it, twerk, it twerk it. Left right, twerk it, throw it in yo face, Boy, you lookin' nervous...”
"Kiss Goodbye" is a slow-tempo number that finds her questioning/doubting her position in a romance situation because she falling deeply in love with this guy but knows that anytime it could easily end and she would end up getting burned. "We do this everytime cause every single night I be laying your side and wondering I this time if this a kiss good night or this a kiss goodbye." She follows it up with another slow jam "Shortgun" which serves as an "Ride or Die" anthem as she professes her love for her man and lets him know that she will
"Don`t Go" is one of the most dramatic tracks on the album as features a dark production which features a mixtures of sounds that come together amazingly well, opera, strings work and gun shots. Mosley blows a fuse, complete with gun cock as she tells her man don`t to walk away or she will blow his head off "Tell me baby why you do me so wrong, when you know I`m crazy where the fuck is my gun, you said you love me..oh please forgive me, don`t leave me. If I can`t have you no one else can.."
"Team Me" is a smooth bouncy number which serves as a dope female empowerment song, when you go through so much heartbreak, you get tired of it. You don’t want to have to depend on nobody anymore but yourself. She follows it up with a sultry number "Yea Yea" that will make you grip your man`s hand and lead him to the bedroom and get some good loving.
"Never Be The Same" is a heartfelt piano driven number ballad that talks about the impact of unhealthy relationship which sees you giving someone a second chance and they continue to fuck around with your trust and love, breaking your heart all over again and making it hard to move pass all the bulls*** "My heart is in a lonely place, tossing and turning in my bed, look what you have done to me." She follows it up with a short and smooth sultry number called "October" that has a spacey production to it.
"Bad" is a guitar driven number which deals with breaking up, she is removing herself from a relationship where the guy is failing to make the effort to make things better between them. DIE is another dramatic track which finds her once again with a loaded gun as she address the shortcomings of her man who keeps on hurting her while she remains totally committed to him and deeply in love, but she is slowly dying.
"Money Maker" Is an upbeat number that is honestly my least favorite song on this album the production is a weird mash up of sounds that sound extremely messy and annoying especially during the verses and it sounds a bit rushed.
"Glue" Is a smooth mid-tempo with a very spacey production which created a perfection foundation for her to lay down some solid vocals as she sings about loving and learning to let go of a relationship that is not good for you but when you`re in it you don`t see that. "Pro" is bouncy number with soft melodies about her bae who is the shit with the real shit "My baby is professional, I just want to let him know, that he is my MVP. Star player on my team..."
She closes the set with "Beautiful" which a great track that sees her reflecting on her evolution from a girl to a woman and reflects on love and grinding hard to achieve her dreams.
