Lisa Banton Shines With 'Lost And Found' EP

Canada`s answer to Mary J Blige is the soulfully talented and beautiful songstress Lisa Banton who recently released her solid EP titled "Lost And Found" which features 7 tracks including my favorite record "Green Eyes" which serves a great bonus track.

The EP features production from the likes of  The Cratez, Tone Jonez, Scarecrow Beats, Mal T and Paul Cabbin, who all created a great foundation for her to showcase her vocals at the rawest and she sounds so confident in her craft, check out the review below and also stream the EP which you can purchase on iTunes.

Maybe It's Not You : It`s a drum driven R&B with great elements of guitar and piano within the production, which creates a great foundation for her to pour her soul out as she sings about being in a confusing status of mind when it comes to love because she has been hurt before and that has planted a seed of doubt in her current relationship  “It`s like I can`t  trust my own head, I don`t know my own heart, don`t know if this is gonna end , maybe it was wrong from the very start.” The production works amazingly with her vocal delivery which is so soulful and sincere with sweet vocal harmonies.

Let You Go: A smooth piano driven number with string elements within the production, it finds Banton singing about heartbreak once again where she is ending a relationship because she knows deep down inside that it`s for the best for the both of them. Which is a very relatable topic for many people because when you build a solid relationship with someone you want that love to be forever lasting but sometimes we have to wake up to the reality of the matter and free ourselves from the relationship.

The Only One:  Another piano driven number that finds her tackling a very common topic in relationship where someone seems to be the only one fighting to make a relationship work while the other person is half-stepping throughout the relationship. You are out here giving him 100% while he giving you 10 %, Lisa addresses this topic over a very retro-old skool production and backed up solid vocal harmonies.

When You: Is a smooth and sensual number with a dreamy production which proves to be a perfect foundation for her display her rich vocals so beautifully as she sings about the art of love making, perfect song for the grown and sexy. I love the 90`s vibe to it and her whole approach to her music becomes more and more impressive because she paints such a realist image without trying to oversell it.

She Will: Piano driven mid-tempo number that finds her comparing herself to her ex beau`s current girlfriend “She will never love you the way I used to” she is clearly full of regret for letting him go because she thought that they would come back together and make it work but he went on and moved on. Very relatable topic for both sexes as we`ve all let  go of someone so special to us without thinking that they would move on because we know the value of our love higher and richer than their current lovers.

That Kind Of Love: The closing track is a sweet love ballad that finds her singing about the greatest love that her heart desires: “Find someone who understands that I`m not perfect and someone who knows that I`m really worth it, that kind of love….Don`t want to spend my life alone, want to find someone who wants to make my heart his home…” Love the arrangement throughout the song but would`ve loved to hear it in acoustic setting and in a slower pace to showcase more of the raw emotion behind the lyrics, overall though it was a great track.

My favs are: Maybe It's Not You, When You, Let You Go and That Kind Of Love.
