Iconic Albums: Missy Elliott - "Supa Dupa Fly", "Miss E…So Addictive" And "Under Construction"

Ever since Missy Elliott came on the music scene she has made it her mission to always push the boundaries of music and never limit herself unlike most artists who decide to limit themselves by selling a image and bring nothing to the table, Missy ain`t that type, she is a true artist. She has released 6 albums, 5 of them have gone platinum and 1 of them has gone double platinum, all of them are groundbreaking but 3 of them have had a very iconic impacts on the music industry.

Supa Dupa Fly (1997)
The first one is her classic debut album "Supa Dupa Fly" which saw an artist fearlessly owning her image and her sound and never conforming to fit the narrow-minded image of what the industry thinks a superstar should look and sound like. With the help of her partner in crime Timbaland, she produced a masterpiece of album that featured a revolutionary sound that took Hip Hop and R&B music to the next level, showcasing their creativity and their passion for music. The album charted at number three on the Billboard 200 and topped the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

The phenomenal album serves as a blueprint for both Timbaland and Missy’s later music, displaying their creativity and originality and the era was accompanied by groundbreaking music videos.
Miss E…So Addictive (2001)
In 2001 she returned with her third album titled  "Miss E…So Addictive" which the second iconic album from her, with this one she silenced all the critics and became one of the biggest female Hip-Hop stars of all time in the process. It saw a much tougher and fierce Missy, who is taking no shit from no one, just owning her artistry even more and expressing her wild and unique creativity as she wishes. The album charted at number two on the Billboard 200 and topped the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

She took us on a journey of discovery and revelation, along with aspects of love, sex, partying and much more. With Timbaland still the man behind the album, they brought out the best in each other.
Under Construction (2002)
The following year she released her fourth album titled "Under Construction" that is one of the greatest albums in the history of Hip-hop music and one of the most impactful albums in the world. This album was heavily inspired by old school hip-hop that she grew up listening to it, it`s like a homage to it and it was also inspired by the death of her close friend and fellow artist Aaliyah, who helped her and Timbaland get their big break with the work they did on her second album "One In A Million".

"Under Construction" charted at number three on the Billboard 200 and  at number two on  the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and the album went on to be her highest selling album to date, double platinum.

With this album Missy and Timbaland didn’t only take us into the future but took us back into the fun days of music and she still sounded original, it has consistently strong lyrics and amazing production.
