Solange is too wrong for making good ass music like this.....
When Solange released her third studio album "A Seat at the Table" a year ago, I was ecstatic because we`ve all been waiting some new music from her and her second album "Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams" actually left such a great impression and left you wanting more from her, as that album saw her come into her own, offering music with poetical lyrics which addressed many relatable topics. So excitement around her new album has been building for over the 8 years.
So the minute she dropped "A Seat at the Table" it went straight to number one and it served such a powerful purpose as it gave so many black people a voice to lean on and find understanding and comfort in, she was unapologetically black and strong in her truth. People embraced her fully and it was honestly great seeing her collaborating with one of my favorite singers Tweet who laid down some great background vocals on some of the songs, together they sounded so heavenly.
And I loved the Tina Lawson feature, her mother spoke to my soul and lifted me up to the heavens with that track but NOTHING compares to my obsession with the song “Don't Wish Me Well" a beautifully crafted song with amazing lyrics that speak about growth and moving forward with life and having a clear vision of who you are "Pour ashes where they claimed my name, they say I changed but a pity if I stayed the same. Thinking that everything is funny but don't see that the jokes on you".
Excellent album. Excellent song. Well done, Solange.
