British singer-songwriter Mahalia recently came on my radar when I saw her performance of her song "Sober" on A Colour Show, her vocals blew me away as they are soulful and jazzy, very reminiscent of Jorja Smith and Amy Winehouse. Afterwards I had to check out her music further and I was not disappointed as she has some tight joints on her, including her newest single called “No Reply”which serves as the latest single lifted from her upcoming album that is slated to be released sometime this year via Asylum Records and Atlantic Records.
The Maths Times Joy produced track is a slow-tempo number that finds her addressing a man she was dealing with who came into her life on some fake shit and showed his true colours as the relationship collapsed “Don't you ever call me again, love. Don't you ever call me your friend, love. Don't you try, don't you try, funny how they think that they know us. You ain't laughing now there is no us”. Her vocals are so laid back with a very transparent honesty within her approach, check out below.
