A couple of weeks ago I was blessed with a great opportunity to meet Missy Elliott and also to see her perform at Essence Festival in New Orleans. I`ve been waiting for over 13 years to see her live because she had a concert in London back in 2006 and I sadly missed it. So when this opportunity came back there was no way I was gonna miss it, so I jumped on it.
She turned it out from the start to finish, her set features some iconic images of hers throughout her career and the production was extremely tight, she had everyone on their feet and she was clearly in her elements providing some high energy performances backed up by her talented crew of dancers led by and her outfits were stunning, so beautifully put together and went hand in hand with her personality and her music, especially the glow in the dark outfit and the last Adidas outfit, her fashion team went ham on those outfit.
After the show I went backstage and met the 5 time Grammy winner and first female hip-hop artist to be inducted into into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. She was everything and more than what I expected her to be and so warm and lovely and I quickly embraced her with the tightly hug and sang her praises as she did her thing and never letting the energy of the room slip away, she was so upbeat and energetic and her team is so freaking amazing, shout -out to Ivan and Keon, who both played such a great part in getting me there.
I also opportunity also meet the Supa Friends crew, who I`ve been friends for years and years and meeting them in person was everything, so many great moments. I bottled that weekend and let it slip over my life and the bonds I built were taken to the next level, I will never forget this moment in time, thanks Missy.
