I`ve never been a fan of One Direction but I can say there`s always been two members of the group that stood out to me and their talent shined through and would make great solo acts. Zayn Malik who was the first member to leave the group, went on to achieve amazing solo success with his smash hit single “PILLOWTALK” and his groundbreaking debut solo studio album "Mind of Mine".
And Harry Styles, who just kicked off his solo career with the release of his lead single “Sign of the Times,” written and produced alongside Tyler Johnson, Alex Salibian and Jeff Bhasker. "It’s a bit weird, I feel like I’ve been hibernating for so long now and you hear it in the safety of the studio and now it’s time to give birth […] it’s the song I’m most proud of writing."
The piano driven number is a very dramatic ballad that features a 70`s soft rock appeal to it, that is very reminisced of the work of David Bowie, Freddie Mercury and Prince. It sees Styles singing his heart out about how society and individuals avoid thinking about dealing with death which is a very unavoidable thing and instead of pretending, we should face up to it, and be there for each other : “Just stop your crying, it's a sign of the times, welcome to the final show. Hope you're wearing your best clothes, you can't bribe the door on your way to the sky, you look pretty good down here but you ain't really good. ”
It’s so amazingly soothing and pleasing to the ears, extremely proud of Harry.
