Ever listen to range of different artists and actually seeing them working together in your head and pray that in reality that they would cross paths and create some music together. Sometimes we get enough to see our dream collaborations come true but other times they end up being faraway improbabilities – untapped potential forever. Me and Vaughn have put together a list of our top 10 dreams collaborations (in no particular order), hoping that they become reality.
Missy Elliott x Kanye West x Andre 3000
These three individuals are truly some of the most creative figures in music who have created some of the most groundbreaking music that has changed the face of music so many times. Together they would create a heavy hitter or even a dark track that would allow them to showcase their animated personalities and deliver some jaw-dropping lyrics.
Lorde x Kendrick Lamar
Lorde has an incredible unique vocal range and her whole musical approach is so understated yet powerful and together with Lamar they would shine together so beautifully as he is a straight shooter and is very transparent with his lyrics, I would love to see them on tribal production by Pharrell Williams that will laced up with hands clap, strings soar and a gospel choir singing in the background.
Beyonce X Paolo Nutini
Paolo Nutini is such a rare talent because firstly he doesn`t fit this generation as he is a throwback to golden days of music but he still shines brighter than most artist today because people relate to his music and feel his pain in his voice. His vocals are rich and smoky, which is why I would love to see him teaming up with Beyonce as this will sees her stepping in a new direction and discovering new layers of herself and her vocals as she has displayed so much vocal growth over the years, as it seems she gets more and more powerful as she gets older. I would love to see them singing over a soft-rock production.
Most of you know that I was born and raised in South Africa where I was exposed to some of the amazing artist one being Thandiswa who has created such a rich and powerful lane for herself and has three groundbreaking albums under her belt which all showcase the beauty of jazz and neo-soul which is why I always thought she and Badu would make a perfect fit. They both mirror each other even when they live across the world and also have the same musical appreciation and drive to delivery quality music that educates their listeners to reflect on their lives. So together they would compliment each other and create more impactful music.
Bruno Mars X Tori Kelly
This one right here I can see it happening in the near future honestly because they are two of the most talented artists on the music scene and are truly committed to creating good music with heart and their personalities pop out throughout their music and they bring something refreshing and soulfully touching to their music.
Vaughn`s Dream Collaborations
#1 "Beyoncé x Rihanna x Nicki Minaj"
This collaboration has been a dream of mines even though I know it probably won't happen but hey a boy can dream. I envision a song that's like "Raining Men" by Rihanna and "Countdown" by Beyoncé a very aggressive uptempo and I want Nicki to give us a playful verse like she did on Trey Songz "Bottom Up" and the music video must be colorful fun with memorable dance moves talk about a hit it would be #1 instantly without question the production needs be done by Hit-Boy & Mike Will Made It that beat would be bananas!!!!
#2 Lil Kim x Nicki Minaj
Again another collaboration that will never happen in my lifetime or the next. I personally would love to see them on record that comes with same aggression as Lil Kim & Mobb Deep's "Quiet Storm Remix" and Nicki Minaj's "Lookin Ass" with a music video similar to "Lookin Ass" very simple but very stylish talk about a smash hit I think it would be the best female emcee collaboration hands down and it must be produced by "Detail" & "Da Internz" there styles would make a beat out of this world!!!
#3 "Beyoncé x Maxwell
I think this collaboration has great chance of happening since they share the same label Columbia. I envision the sound being a combination between Beyoncé's "Rocket" and Maxwell's "Til The Cops Come Knockin" very sensual record and I would love them to sing the record in their respective falsettos that would be simply amazing. The track must be produced be "Timberland" & "Maxwell" their respective styles would definitely mesh very well together.
#4 Brandy x Fantasia x Jazmine Sullivan
This collaboration has a great chance of happening it might have already occurred. I envision a bluesy throwback track so it can play on their amazing vocals and harmonies similar to Brandy's "Beggin Pleadin" the production should definitely be done by "Oak Felder" he would bring the heat most definitely!!!
#5 Beyoncé x P!NK
This collaboration could happen if it organically occurs. I envision a rock-urban production with a lot of bass a definite uptempo with very sassy aggressive lyrics to allow their edgy Virgo spirits to shine. I would love for it to be reminiscent of P!NK's "Timebomb" that just screams a smash waiting to happen and of course "Greg Kurstin" must be at the helm of the production his style would definitely bring something different to the table.
