I Live For The Edge: Alexander McQueen And Gareth Pugh

I love fashion that`s a bit weird and edgy as it`s not scared to step out the box and create a very creative lane that displays alot of surrealism - which is why I live for designers like Alexander  McQueen and Gareth Pugh. I wish more designers would take more creative risks and push the boundaries of the fashion to create art on the runway.

Take a look at their work after the jump.

 Alexander  McQueen

"My shows always throw people completely: one minute I see a lovely chiffon dress and the next minute I see a girl in this cage that makes her walk like a puppet and, you know, they can’t understand where it’s coming from because there are so many sides of me in conflict. But influences are really from my own imagination and not many come from direct sources."

Gareth Pugh
"I always knew that I wanted to do something that involved me making something or being creative, but I didn't know what that would be; I had always hoped but never imagined that I would be doing what I am."..." It's important for me to feel proud of what I do and that I can stand by the work. It needs to speak – the story or the narrative that runs through everything is bigger than a pretty show or a commercial collection, it needs to express more that 'Oh, that's a pretty dress'. I just need to feel happy that I'm creatively fulfilled. What I'm doing won't please everybody. But that's not what I'm trying to do anyway"

“I don’t like the traditional way of presenting clothes. I’d like to explore a deeper interaction between presentations in galleries and fashion shows, wearable clothes, art objects and small scale production. I want people to ask more questions and to buy things not because a magazine or a blog told them that it is cool to do so, but because they understand and share the ideas that inspired the designer to create those things”.
