British songstress Jessie J has been putting out some of the most emotionally charged singles as she gears up to releasing her forthcoming album "R.O.S.E", she follows up her single "Think About It" with "Not My Ex" which is hands down one of her best musical offerings.
The single is so raw and very transparent as she sings about two people who come into a situation while carrying baggage from their previous relationships that unfortunately spills into their new relationship and insecurities and paranoia creeps in and affects how they interact with eachother. "My ex used to tell me I'm flawless, when laying low with other girls. Believed him when he said he was honest then blamed myself when I got hurt. My ex used to tell me I'm selfish but never did he put me first, ignore me and he'd do it on purpose, just to have the last word...but now you wanna love me, who knows what you'll find it won't be easy, but I'm down for the ride. Just remember you're not my ex, no"
Together they slowly let go of the baggage to able to embrace this new situation, with a better understanding of who they are as individuals and what they want in a relationship and create the reality that they want in life together. I love this song and the simply yet powerful visual does a great job at creating a very inmate and personal moment with her audience.
