Why Missy Elliott Is Beyond Deserving Of The Video Vanguard Award

For years and years now, people have been rooting for Missy Elliott to get a Vanguard award and she never gets it which is sad as her visual art throughout the years as be more than deserving of the award and actually represents what the award stands for, as she always delivers some groundbreaking visuals that display her creativity beautifully. And always pushing the boundaries of music by stepping outside her box and creating some dope ass visuals that take her music to the next level without limiting herself ever.

Praying that VMAs sees the light and gives her flowers already, she goes hard on her craft.

Missy Misdemeanor Elliott served a great introduction with her classic and iconic debut visual "The Rain" that still continues to inspire many to replicate the patent leather blowup suit and the ICONIC headpiece. It was nominated for Best Rap Video at the '97 VMAs.
She followed it up with "Sock It To Me" which featured Mega Man video game theme/influence, she had her fellow peers Lil Kim and Da Brat dressed up in space suits while fighting robots.
She gave us Black Barbie and dollhouse vibes in the video for "Beep Me 911, she was on point from her makeup to the costumes to the movement.
She took us to a dark castle in "Hit EmWit Da Hee", giving us sorcerer vibes and dancing in the rain.
When female rappers were using sex to sell, Elliott did the complete opposite. She had the nerve to be fully clothed with a bald head giving us avant-garde visuals. ICON -ish.
She brought the hotness in the "Hot Boyz" video with fireworks, explosions, strobe lights and a star studded lineup including Nas and Eve, the single spent 18 weeks at #1 on the Hot Rap Singles chart.
In this ICONIC video for "Get Ur Freak On", she took us on a dark, swampy surrealism ride with chandelier swinging and slick choreography.
For "One Minute Man", she takes us to the Get Ur Freak On Hotel where Ludacris and Trina make guest appearances and a headless Missy gets her groove on.
She won the Video of the Year Award for "Work It" at the 2003 VMAs. In 2018, Billboard critics ranked it 2nd among the greatest music videos of the 21st century.
Took us back to school for "Gossip Folks",  unruly students, food fights and tons of choreography in this fun-filled video.

She served some dope ass "Kill Bill" references and street fighter vibes along with a slick dance break in her "I`m Really Hot" video.
You cannot forget when Missy was buried in the sand and gave one of her most energetic videos with a dope line dance for "Lose Control". It was the most played video on BET and MTV in 2005 and also won her fifth Grammy award.

She takes flight as a gymnast in her video for "We Run This", it served as the theme song for the movie "Stick It" and features three-time Olympian Dominique Dawes.

Never forget  her 3D music video for "Ching A Ling".
"WTF "features a disco ball inspired outfit, dancing marionettes and hover boards to showcase a mix of street culture and futuristic imagery, loved the scene when she flipped around and she had a total different outfit and make-up which was so out there but made sense as it`s Missy.
In the video for "I`m Better", Missy gave us underwater choreography that had everyone running out to get an exercise ball so they too could be better.
